Founded in 1989, in Austin, Texas, Mitchie.com is central Texas' largest African and
African
American Art and Gift Gallery is located at 7801 North Lamar Blvd., Bldg B,
Ste.148, Austin, Texas 78752. You may visit our gallery Monday through Saturday from
10a - 6p and closed on Sunday except for special events. Mitchie.com offers a huge
selection of African and African American originals, serigraphs, giclees, and limited/open
edition artworks by local and national artists, books, cards, calendars, collectibles, African
carvings, clothing, greek and masonic gift items. Our award winning framing department
offers the very best in custom framing - from small to large corporate framing contracts. Our
framing department can handle any assignment with quick and professional results. Rush
and while-u-wait custom framing services are available 6 days a week. Delivery
service is
also available.

Our gallery mission is to simply provide the very best in quality products, services, and serve as a resource of educational materials while serving the community with customer care. Gallery Customer Service
At Mitchie.com and our associates take great pride in providing the best in customer service. Our gallery is open 7 days a week to provide customer care and rush custom framing services. You may contact our service center at 512.323.6901 or e-mail us at info@mitchie.com.

Our Award Winning Children Programs
The future of our community depends on the success of our youth. We believe that giving back is one such way to achieve this goal. Our array of award winning children programs and workshops are a testimonial to our committment of investing in our youth.  Our youth programs and workshops include:

Wednesday and Saturday Story Time:  Scheduled from 1-2pm. Kids receive a free gift, 30% off their book purchase and refreshments.

Annual Black History Month Awareness Program:  Kids receive a variety of self motivating gifts and instructions on African & African American Leaders and historical events.  This instruction is taught during February and throughout the year.

Annual Easter Workshop:  Kids receive an Easter basket filled with gifts, fresh eggs decorated by them, and a free photo with the Easter Bunny.

Pizza Reading Friday:  This summer program is scheduled every Friday during the months of June and July.  Volunteer teachers from local school districts assist kids in improving their reading, writing, and math skills while having lots of fun. Kids receive complimentary pizza snacks, cookies and refreshments.

Hand Talk:  Taught during our children story time, licensed sign language instructors make learning the art of communicating with others easy.  Sign Language class is taught every Saturday from 1-2p for and 2-3p for adults. 

Seasonal Programming includes:  MLK Children Art Day, St Patrick’s Day Art Workshop, Mother’s Day Art-Card, Father’s Day Art-Card, Thanksgiving Water Globe Workshop, Christmas Ornament Workshop and Kwanzaa Unity in the Community Art Time.

Christmas at Mitchie’s Gallery starts the second Saturday in November and ends on the last Saturday before Christmas.  Kids receive a FREE photo with Santa Claus, a gift stocking filled with fruits, gifts, and candy canes.

Annual Back to School Shoe Drive.

Other Special Guest Programs includes:  Puppet Shows and Workshops, Drum Making Classes, a variety of hands on art workshops, guest artists and authors.

Our Gallery Commitment to Sharing
Our associates thrive on helping people in our communities by contributing and participating in a variety of volunteering activities. We are committed to assisting other small businesses to succeed and by providing space for sales and to perform a variety of community services, which includes Defensive Driving classes, Self Help Programs, Tax Services, and a host of other community profit raising programs. Mitchies also provides a venue for HIV/AIDS Counseling and Services, Health Fairs, Book Clubs meeting space, weekly Story Time and Art Workshop for kids, Art & Book signings by local and national artists and authors. We participate in the local school's Adopt-a-School Program and work with a variety of local non-profit organizations with their At-Risk-Youth Programs. We network with local high schools, colleges, and community based organizations to provide intern programs for students. Mitchies participates with the annual Christmas Adopt-a-Family Program. We are committed to providing Voter education and registration. Since 1991, Mitchies has been designated as an Early Mobile Voting Center for city, state, and national elections by the state of Texas Elections Commission. Mitchies is an active member of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers( MADD). We speak at schools, businesses, and local organizations on the results of Drinking and Driving in our community, youth, and on its' economic and emotional impact to society.
