The AfricanAmerican Entrepreneur Circle (AAEC) is a business networking group that provides networking opportunities for established African American business owners and professionals who are on their way towards making their entrepreneurial dreams become a reality. Launched in 2005, the AAEC has hosted over 35 networking meetings and mixers for Austin's business community. Our next meeting will be on July 31,2010, at the Carver Library, room #4, from 3pm-4pm. The East 12th Community Restoration & Development Forum Saturday, July 31, 3-4p, The East 12th Community Restoration & Development Forum The African American Entrepreneur Circle & The Wealth on East Twelfth (W.E.T) Council will hold quarterly “brainstorm” sessions in order to address the city development of the Austin Eastside, specifically E.12th Street. These sessions will produce a road map for restoration and development that will be in the best interest of the historical residence & property owners. Our mission is 1.) To give a voice to the voiceless historical residence & property/business owner in the Eastside community, 2.) To address the ongoing inadequacies occurring with the development agenda by the City of Austin agencies, and 3.) To submit/create an action plan originating from the historical residence & property owners to the City Council on a predetermined future date. For example, African-American children are represented in the Texas Child Protective Service system at a higher rate than their percentage of the population. What does that mean?It means that African-American children in the Texas CPS system:-Spend more time in foster care,-Are less likely to be reunited with their families,-and wait longer to be adopted than Anglo or Hispanic children.
